Lesson One : Some Basic Greetings and Grammar

Formal Greetings :

Sabah-il-khair (Good Morning)

Masa-il-khair-(Good Evening)

Asalamu-alaykum (Peace be upon you)

Marhaba- (Hello)

***This are all the same as in Modern Standard Arabic***

Kiffak- (How are you?) Masculine.
Kiffik- (How are you?) feminine.
mneeh-(Good) Masculine.
mnenha(good) feminine.
ilhamdillah- ( Thanks be to god) You will often hear this, sometimes people will say it in response to "how are you?".

Pronouns:

ana-I
enta-you (mas.)
enti-you(fem.)
huwwe- he, him
hiyyi-she, her
nihna-we, us
entu-you (pl.)
hinni-they, them

Possessive Suffixs:

u-his : baytu (His House)
a-her: Bayta (Her House)
ak-your /masc./: baytak (Your House)
ik-your /fem./: Baytik (Your house)
i-my: bayti (my house)
na-our: baytna (our house)

Question Words:
sho-What?
miin-Who?
kiff-how?
wayn-where?
aymta-when?
laish-why?
sho ya'ni?-what does it mean?
